It’s funny how Cleis and Io were both kinda silent but talkative when given the chance; Ada and Eve having almost the same speech, mannerisms, and behavior (only Eve’s a totally dirty bitch); and Everyday and Sherry having the bubbly energy I always find easy to handle.

Deo and Ada: Deo never went to any of the Yuletide Balls. He did, however, attempt once. He stayed outside during most of the night, watching the events from behind the glass wall of the old president’s house. Once, Ada stopped by and spotted him.

“You look so nice today.”

“I look nice everyday, baby.” Wink.

“It’s a shame you aren’t enjoying yourself.” Pause. “Would you like to dance?”

Exhausted sigh. Generous smile. “Oh, if you insist.”

Deo decided then that he wanted to get better - or at least try to. It was also then that he lowered the pretzels’ prices every time Ada ordered. The invitation made him happy - and it also made him decide never to try coming to the parties again.

Matt/Bird

Matt had to pee while trying to find a way to spy on Fino’s office, which only had one window. The spot he peed on—- well, it was a coincidence.

I think my Deo/Ada answer was a fic rather than a headcanon =))

In any case, for Deo, he had never considered Ada as more than a friend because she never presented herself as such (and Deo’s wired to not assume, because he thinks: who could love me more often than anyone can imagine).

For Ada, in my head, she never really loved Deo romantically. Deo was just… someone weaker than her, someone she protected and kept safe. I think that she felt like she ‘loved’ him because he was her way of fixing the things that went wrong with her. (This is why I don’t feel a sense of ‘sayang’ with Deo and Ada - they were already perfect as friends. They could never be anything more for me.)

But that’s just me lol.

When Seru explained to me her sentiments some time ago, I realized that yes, she was right. Yes, Ada’s love for Deo was not merely as a friend, because it exceeded that. But it wasn’t to the level of anything romantic. It wasn’t up to the level of imagining a matrimonial bond between them as an ultimate end—it was, however, a strong feeling that’s enough to make her swear to protect him. Make her swear to see him live on without holding back. It feels like something filial to me; the way she feels when he sees him troubled, like she’s carrying a part of his burden.

At the ending, Ada mentioned Meg and feels that tint of bereavement because she (Meg) had that kind of relationship with Deo that she (Ada) knows she won’t be able to ever have. But eventually acceptance is easy for Ada. She treasures the times she spent with him, and she knows no one can ever take those away.

Deo is Ada’s best friend. It may not be a mutual thing, but that’s how I consider it. ;u;
